Airports and cities to avoid on Labor Day

If you're considering travel over the long Labor Day weekend, you might want
to know that Chicago O'Hare International will be the busiest airport in
America and New York will be the busiest city.

Orbitz Insider Travel says one of the most frantic summer travel seasons in
recent years is closing out with Labor Day traffic.

"Those heading to airports on a holiday weekend should always expect heavy
traffic, and it's important to know where the big crowds will be," said
Heather Leisman, senior director of merchandising for Orbitz. He added:

"As we may see record numbers of US travelers this holiday, our Insider
staff picks highlight some popular but also not-so-crowded destinations to
consider."

The site compiled some information that shows:
a.. After O'Hare, the busiest airports you might to avoid if at all
possible are, in order: Charlotte Douglas, Philadelphia International,
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, McCarran International, La Guardia
Airport, Denver International, Los Angeles International, Phoenix Sky Harbor
International and Dallas/Fort Worth.
b.. The busiest cities after New York are Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA;
Washington, D.C.; San Francisco, CA; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; Seattle,
WA; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ.


For less traveled destinations, Orbitz suggests Destin in the Florida
Panhandle which is known for its sugary sand beaches that are so hard-packed
they squeak; Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, which offers 1,700 restaurants
and is a top spot for golf; Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which is a 19th
century Victorian village nestled in the Ozark Mountains known for pristine
views; Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a beautiful city by the ocean; and
Breckenridge, Colorado, a city whose Victorian homes show off its classic
beauty.
