RYANAIR FORCED TO CANCEL WEEKEND FLIGHTS AT BRUSSELS CHARLEROI DUE TO UNLAWFUL
SECURITY STAFF STRIKE AT AIRPORT

Ryanair Europe’s largest low fares airline today (15th June) confirmed that it
has been forced to cancel all flights to and from Brussels Charleroi airport
from Friday 15th June until Monday 18th June at 14.00hrs local (CET) due to the
unlawful strike action by security staff at Brussels Charleroi airport who are
employed by the Walloon Government.

The security staff withdrew their service today without notice and as a result
no Ryanair staff or passengers have been allowed to pass from landside to
airside at Charleroi airport. The security staff have also prevented all
Ryanair passengers from entering the terminal building at Charleroi. At
18.00hrs this evening (Friday), Ryanair was notified by Charleori Airport
management that talks between the security staff and the Walloon Government
have failed to bring an end to this unlawful strike and accordingly Charleroi
airport has advised Ryanair that security at Charleroi cannot be guaranteed
over the coming weekend.

Ryanair has written to the Walloon Government and Charleroi Airport Management
airport calling on them to bring an end to this unlawful strike as a matter of
urgency. Ryanair has also asked for an explanation as to why no contingency
plan has been put in place to ensure the security of Charleroi Airport and its
flights. It is unacceptable that the travel plans of 15,000 passengers over a
busy weekend can be disrupted by the unlawful actions of a small number of
airport security staff.

Ryanair sincerely apologises to all passengers for these cancellations which
are entirely due to the failure of the MET (Ministry of Transport and
Infrastructure) management at Charleroi to resolve this strike action or to
implement any practical contingency measures. Intending passengers who are
booked to travel on any cancelled flights may rebook free of charge on
www.ryanair.com or through the call centre (Tel +32 16 271 006).

For further information concerning this strike, passengers should contact:

Mr Michel Piraux

Directeur d’aéroport

Ministère de l’Equipment et des Transports

Rue des Fusilles,

1 6041 Gosselles Belgium

Tel +32 71 25 12 15 Fax +32 71 25 12 54

Email : ***@met.wallonie.be

Ryanair again sincerely apologises for any disruption caused to passengers by
this unlawful MET security staff strike.

Same here Honest Man. I often wonder if John's opinion of Ryanair is based on
what he THINKS they will be like as opposed to what they are really like. My
only complaint I have had with flying with them is blatantly rigged scales at
Girona airport which to be totally fair is not Ryanair faults.

Actually Jim I have flown with FR in the past few months and will be
flying with them again next week, so I know what they are like, I also
used them a lot before I decided too ditch them in favour of other
airlines, so am talking from my experiences Jim, not just some stuff I
have read in the newspapers or on the websites.

And why direct your reply here? Ryanair do not fly from Edinburgh to
CHARLEROI
Ryanair DO fly from EDI onto destinations that DO connect onto Brussells.
Has this crossed your tiny little mind?

Only a tiny mind would go indirect via FR when they can go direct
to Brussels from EDI?
Tiny minds that had business in Dublin and Braine-l'Alleud? You truly are a
twat of mammoth proportions.

What tiny mind do you have? BRU can be accessed direct from EDI.
You know very well - as musselman told you so - he had to go via Dublin
because he had to stop at Dublin.

I often do trips where I fly into one airport then take another flight
to somewhere else before I start my trip back home. Next weeks its
EDI<>MXP, then BGY<>STN, then STN<>GLA, the reason for STN is for a
meeting on Friday.

I know of other business folk who do the same. Its a good way to do
business and it can actually save you money as you actually have one
less flight to do.

It seemed very clear to me.

Or will musselman be doing the sensible thing and fly BRU via EDI?
The sensible thing you should do is shut your mouth. You are making a fool
of yourself. Try reading before you reply.

Thanks for that Jim. I was flying to Dublin with a large party from EDI then
onto Charleroi. We had to rethink our plans at the last minute.

You didn't know about the direct BRU flight from EDI?
Very aware. And also aware of direct flights to BRU from DUB but we had
business to deal with in Dublin then in the area well south of BRU. Our
company use EDI several times a week to various destinations. Perhaps our
paths have crossed at the airport at some time but I would think that would
be a quite remakable coincidence given your usage?

Much cheaper routing as well.

Typical example, EDI-BRU 21st June, cheapest one way ticket -£250
EDI-DUB 21st June £50.79, DUB-CRL £40.94. Sustatial saving even if staying
overnight in Dublin.
