New flights from Aberdeen to Tenerife!
BAA Press release 29/06/06
Aberdeen Airport is to have its first scheduled service to Tenerife this
winter as low fares airline flyglobespan confirms the first of its flights
from the city.
Starting in November, the web-based airline are offering seats to the all-
year round sunshine island from only £49.99 per sector including taxes ? as
the north east enjoys its first experience of the Scottish airline which
now flies to over 20 destinations.
Since pledging to add Aberdeen to their programme if the airport extended
their opening hours, flyglobespan had originally thought they would be
unable to offer any routes until next summer.
However, the airline has now managed to add an Aberdeen- Tenerife flight to
their winter 2006 programme.
Starting on November 3, they will fly there every Friday - with the
expectation of more to come next summer when a brand new £25million Boeing
737 700 will operate from the airport ? bringing all the top Mediterranean
resorts within range.
Aberdeen Airport managing director Andy Flower said: "This is great news
for holiday makers across the north of Scotland - an early bonus from
flyglobespan who have already announced a significant commitment to
Aberdeen Airport from next summer.
?These winter flights to Tenerife will provide travellers with a great
opportunity to fly direct to this popular destination from their local
airport
"Aberdeen City Council's decision to lift the airport's opening hour
restrictions has been tremendously beneficial, as we have been able to
introduce a host of new routes and services in the last year. We are now
delighted to welcome flyglobespan to Aberdeen and look forward to
introducing many more new routes with them in future."
Flyglobespan chairman Tom Dalrymple said: ?Tenerife is a very good
destination to offer as our first Aberdeen service. It has an attractive
climate all year round and is particularly appealing in the winter when the
temperatures there are invariably the best in Europe.
?I am very hopeful this will be the start of a long and happy relationship
between Aberdeen Airport and flyglobespan. The Airport have been very keen
to get us there and I am glad we are able to offer the people of the north
east of Scotland the chance to enjoy low fare travel for their doorstep.
?Tenerife is proving a very popular destination for flyglobespan customers.
We already have daily flights there from London Stansted, Glasgow and
Liverpool and we look forward to welcoming new customers to the
flyglobespan experience.?
As with all flyglobespan flights, people taking the Aberdeen routes will
have the option of taking flight only or also adding transfers and/or
accommodation. All prices are now available on www.flyglobespan.com.
