BAA dismisses demands to break up UK airports group

AIRPORT operator BAA today rejected calls for the break-up of its seven UK
airports, which include Edinburgh, saying it would undermine "vitally-
needed" investment.
In a final submission to the Office of Fair Trading, which is currently
investigating the industry, BAA chief executive Stephen Nelson said a
failure to build new runway capacity would lead to "gridlock, disappointed
customers and significant loss to the national economy".
