Budget airline launches new Capital link to west Ireland

Evening News Online 26/07/06

NEW direct flights from Edinburgh to the west of Ireland were today
launched by Ryanair.

The no-frills carrier said it will operate flights between the Capital and
Shannon three times a week from October 31, with one-way fares excluding
taxes starting at £2.49.

Ryanair already flies from the city to Dublin, and has flown 1.3 million
passengers between the Scottish and Irish capitals since 2001.

About as ridiculous as the rumours that they are about to relocate to
Paisley. I'm sure we can safely assume that Irish cities represent the
only destinations FR will probably ever contemplate from EDI (don't UK
and Irish routes attract cheaper rates, or something?)

Interesting, when other LCC are scrapping routes to Ireland including
Shannon, the margins must be very minimal even from London.

other (than Ryanair) LCCs scrap routes to Ireland all the time - because
everytime a LCC comes near Ireland, Ryanair chases them off, nothing new
there. Would that Scotland had an indigenous airline like that.
