RYANAIR ANNOUNCES 6 NEW ROUTES

GLASGOW PRESTICK TO EINDHOVEN (HOLLAND) AND RIGA (LATVIA)

FRANKFURT HAHN TO BALATON (HUNGARY), BIARRITZ, NANTES, (FRANCE) AND
VALENCIA (SPAIN)

Ryanair, Europe?s largest low fares airline, today (20th July) announced 6
new routes from Glasgow (2) and Frankfurt (4). From 31st October, Ryanair
will start flights from Glasgow to Eindhoven and Riga while on the same
date Ryanair will also start flights from Frankfurt to Balaton, Biarritz,
Nantes and Valencia.

Announcing these new routes Peter Sherrard, Head of Communications for
Ryanair said:

?This brings the total number of routes served by Ryanair from Glasgow
Prestwick to 23 and the total from Frankfurt Hahn to 41 and will result in
an additional 350,000 passengers p.a. across the Ryanair network. Seats on
all of these new routes are on sale today on www.ryanair.com from £2.49*.

?Ryanair?s ?no fuel surcharge guarantee? is widening the gap between our
low fares and the high prices of our fuel surcharging competitors and this
is driving millions of additional passengers to Ryanair. Ryanair is the
only airline to guarantee its passengers that they will never pay a fuel
surcharge, not today, not tomorrow, not ever?.

Riga's a nice one. Still hoping we'll see a connection from Scotland to
Tallinn, though.

Any idea if either airports used will actually be near the cities they
claim to represent Doug?

Eindhoven airport is approx 7km from the city centre, and Riga airport
approx 13km from the city centre, so yes, both very close. I believe
there's also a regular bus from Eindhoven airport to the centre of
Amsterdam, but I'm not sure what the journey time is.

I think he meant Glasgow (Prestwick).

The bus from eindhoven airport to Amsterdam should take about 90
minutes, based on my memory of the distances involved.

But are those the airports they will actually be using? Has Eindhoven got
an equivalent of Brussels South or has Riga got a Glasgow Prestwick?

They will use those airports. I've no idea whether there are other
commercial airports in the vicinity of Riga or Eindhoven.

Ryanair website (booking engine) confirms EIN (Eindhoven) and RIX
(Riga) will be the airports served from PIK. FR already serves these
airports from other destinations.

The nearest airport to Eindhoven is probably AMS.

Damian has answered my query in another reply Bill. I take my hat off to
his Holmes like powers of deduction and investigative techniques resulting
in a quick fire answer to what now looks like a very dumb question :-)

And I may have confused stories earlier. I believe Transavia have a larger
base at Rotterdam so it is more likely any second service would be from
there.

That would be ideal for Mrs M's trip!

no worries. Good to see a bit of healthy competition to GLA-AMS as well.

RYANAIR ANNOUNCES 6 NEW ROUTES
GLASGOW PRESTICK TO EINDHOVEN (HOLLAND) AND RIGA (LATVIA)
I just tried to book the PIK - EIN service for my wife for Thursday to
Sunday weekend trip in November. Sadly no Thursday flight planned but
inclusive price for Wednesday to Sunday is £52.67 (without booking in hold
luggage). PIK - AMS with Transavia is £78.91. KLM ex GLA or EDI both come
in at £100 and easyJet ex EDI is £49 return. Interestingly I note from all
these sites that easyJet was the only one that added insurance that the
customer has to manually remove from the booking.

It looks like she will be opting for the EDI flight - not just on cost but
convenience though the Eindhoven flight would be convenient as she is going
nearer to there than Amsterdam.
