easyJet first airline to fly to Morocco under new open skies agreement

- with launch of Gatwick to Marrakech route -

easyJet, Europe's leading low-fares airline, today makes history with the
launch of its new service between London Gatwick and Marrakech, as it is
the first airline to fly to Morocco under the European Union's open skies
agreement.

From just £30.99 one way (£60.98 return including taxes) travellers can now
to explore the vibrant ancient walled city of Marrakech or use the route as
a gateway to explore the captivating and colourful country of Morocco -
once the centre of a great empire, and experience its unique and magical
culture.

The EU is Morocco?s biggest trading partner, so the route is also expected
to help further develop business links between North Africa and the UK.

The EU began talks with Morocco in December 2005 about a new aviation
agreement and the open skies pact was initiated. The EU open skies
agreement is a principle which allows any EU registered airline to fly to
any airport, as often as it wishes, for any price between those countries
within the air services agreement. This liberalisation of the skies is part
of the Moroccan Government's plans to increase tourist numbers to 10
million by 2010. easyJet expects to carry around 90,000 passengers on the
route within the first 12 months.

David Osborne, UK Country Manager for easyJet said:

?Today is an exciting day for easyJet, as the first airline to operate to
Morocco under the new open skies agreement, we continue to seize
opportunities and lead the industry ? both geographically and technically.
Marrakech is a fantastic destination and we anticipate it becoming the
hottest city break destination - all year round, for 2006 / 2007."

Yes, I think there are a lot of places that they'll link Scotland to before
we get a Marrakech route.

Although Ryanair will also be looking at the market, no doubt.

Yes - look at Ryanair's first routes to Morocco: Frankfurt Hahn and
Marseille to Marrakech, Oujda and Fez. i.e. where there are likely to
be lots of ex-patriates who'll use a loco for frequent trips home.
